This is where we put together a plan of action of the best and most effective way for you to set your horse up to win. We do this because every horse is different. You want to make sure that you have a game plan of what to work on. No wasted time, you want to be ONLY working on the stuff that counts and has meaning and impact to your horse.

We work on establishing a good and clear understanding of pressure so that we have better tools to communicate and so we can direct out horse without resistance. Ground Work is where we teach our horses how to respond to direct pressure – we do this in a way that translates to the same kind of pressures we use to communicate to them under saddle.

This is where you get a chance to test out how brave your horse is. If they lack confidence in certain areas, we will direct our attention to building that confidence until they feel braver. We’ll build trust with our horse through meaningful experiences — allowing you and your horse to stay safe!

By working on ground obstacles, not only are you building confidence in each other, but you are also developing better and clearer communication between the two of you. You are going to practice sending your horse over obstacles to demonstrate how well they understand what you are asking of them.

You’ll learn how to use Liberty work to really reinforce your relationship with your horse which will allow you to maintain control of your horse’s speed, direction, and body position in relation to you. When you do work at Liberty it exposes all the gaps in your horse’s training so that you can fix them before you head out on the trails… keeping you safe!

Ground Driving is about establishing rein control on the ground before mounted work. By establishing clarity and solid communication about what you are asking of your horse with the reins on the ground first, you help them set them up to do well with you under saddle. That way you work all the kinks out on the ground before you actually ride, so they don’t get in the habit of fighting with you while mounted.

The Pre-Ride Safety Check list is one of your last lines of defense to help you have a safer ride. By doing your safety checklist, it gives you an opportunity to examine your level of confidence in your horse’s ability to connect and communicate with you.

These exercises are about teaching your horse how to give to pressure just like we did with the groundwork. By giving them a solid understanding of your expectations the two of you will be in a better position to enjoy each other and be ready for the trails. This is called Fun Riding because once you learn these basic mounted skills, you can get your horse to do just about anything under saddle.

You’ll learn how to use obstacle riding to further your trust and communication with your horse by teaching them to go over things they might normally avoid if it were up to them. Obstacles give you an objective point of reference to use when training your horse. This helps us to communicate with more simplicity and clarity for our horses.

Advance Horsemanship is about bringing the skills you have learned together in order to control your horse with softness and ease.  In this module you’ll learn advanced horsemanship techniques that will deepen your connecting and riding partnership with your horse.
